The Ingredients for Beautifully Nourished Hair

Let’s get real, Babe. We all want beautifully healthy locks, and by using Hair&Me’s hair care products, you are already well on your way to your dream hair. But is there something else we can be doing to promote healthy hair growth?

We spoke to clinical nutritionist & author, Jessica Sepel from JSHealth, about what we can be doing on the inside to help us on the outside.

What are the top foods that promote healthy hair growth?

Foods high in zinc and silica are great for hair growth. Try adding pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, cacao powder and chickpeas to your diet.

Good fats.. e.g. avocado, olive oil, nuts and seeds, oily fish, all help nourish hair cells and make your tresses shine.

Good-quality protein.. e.g. organic chicken, sustainably sourced fish, eggs etc. We need amino acids from protein to build strong hair cells.

Fermented foods.. You need to absorb your nutrients and minerals for hair growth. When you're not absorbing these nutrients, your hair will suffer too. Try adding organic yoghurt, kombucha, sauerkraut or kefir to your diet to strengthen your gut lining and increase the number of healthy bacteria for healthy hair.

Foods high in iron.. (organic red meat, dark green leafy vegetables and seafood) will also ensure against low iron levels which can cause hair breakage.

Water is key…

I make it a priority to drink 2L of filtered water a day. If I'm exercising or it's a particularly hot day, I'll drink more to compensate of course.
